Norman Mapeza will be hugely rewarded by FC Platinum for winning the league title as his salary is set to be increased and will have a brand new car to cap it up.

This will make Mapeza the best payed local club coach of all time as his salary will now be $11000 minus bonuses, up from $7500 . Mapeza will also get a brand new Toyota Fortuner as part of the reward for giving the platinum miners the league title which had eluded them since coming into the premier league seven years ago despite massive investments.

“He had a clause in his contract which said that his salary will be increased by fifty percent if he wins the league title. So he managed to achieve it at the weekend and automatically it means he is going to smile all the way to the bank. He is also going to get one of the latest Toyota Fortuner SUV series for his sterling work. The club is happy that it has finally won the league title after so many years of trying,” said a source at the club.

FC Platinum came close to winning the title surrendering it to Dynamos in 2011. They came close again in 2013 under Lloyd Mutasa. However it was the coming in of Mapeza in 2015 that they started mounting for real challenge again finishing third in 2015, second last season and winning it this year.

Club president George Mawere in a statement said the club wants to be among the best clubs not only in Zimbabwe but in Africa. Mawere said winning the title was the beginning of their endeavours to be one of the best on the continent. Platinum last participated in the champions league in 2012 where they failed to reach the group stages.
