COSAFA Under-20 Wrap: Nasama’s late strike earns Zim a vital win

A late strike in additional time from King Nasama kept Zimbabwe’s hopes of reaching the COSAFA Under 20 semi finals alive after edging Angola 1-0 in a match played on Sunday.

The win put the Young Warriors level with Lesotho on four points at the top of Group C.

Zimbabwe dominated the first half and created several opportunities but failed to convert one. The second half saw the ball swinging from one end to another.

Angola came close to open the scoring midway of the second half but Jelson blasted his shot over from a close-range.

However it was Nasama who later broke the deadlock with his beautiful 25 yard drive in the 92nd minute.

The goal was the last highlight of the match as Zimbabwe grabbed their first set of maximum points at the tournament.

Earlier, Lesotho came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over Namibia thanks to Raboama Koloti’s brace.

After a goalless first half, in which Lesotho were reduced to ten men, Namibia took the lead when Romario Hawiseb volleyed the ball home after a counter-attack.

Koloti had already missed a number of fine chances for Lesotho before he grabbed the equaliser on 70 minutes as he provided a neat finish having been set free behind the Namibia defence.

Six minutes later he had his side in front, turning his defender to drive the ball low past the Namibia goalkeeper.
