S.A based Zim players round-up

Baroka FC’s Talent Chawapiwa and Bloemfontein Celtic left-back Ronald Pfumbidzai performed exceptionally well in the league games played over the weekend.

Pfumbidzai scored the consolation in his team’s 4-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday. The fullback tapped home a rebound after Kabelo Mahlasela’s effort hit the post in the 66th minute.

The goal was his first for the club since joining them in August.

On the other hand, Sundowns’ Khama Billiat did not play due to a knee injury.

Chawapiwa came in as a substitute in the 65th minute in Baroka’s 3-1 victory over SuperSport United.

The left winger almost made an immediate impact a few minutes after being introduced as he dribbled past SuperSport captain Dean Furman, before forcing the goalkeeper into a brilliant save.

His main highlight of the game came in the additional time when he set up Mduduzi Mdatsane who scored the third goal for the Limpopo side.

Golden Arrows forwards Knox Mutizwa, Thomas Chideu and Kudakwashe Mahachi led the attack when they drew 0-0 against Maritzburg United.

The trio created several chances in the first half but failed to make a difference for their team. Chideu was later substituted towards the hour mark.

Evans Rusike also featured in the game for United and he was substituted in the additional time.

Polokwane City duo of Walter Musona and goalkeeper George Chigova started in 1-0 win over Chippa United.

Musona’s deflected shot hit the post ten minutes before halftime. Chigova also pulled some brilliant saves to keep another clean sheet.

Midfielder Willard Katsande was on suspension while Teenage Hadebe started in Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town.
