Newly-promoted Nichrut FC in stadium dilemma

Newly-promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Nichrut FC could be forced to relocate to another base if they fail to upgrade their Peak Mine Stadium before the season start.

The club is faced with a huge task of renovating the stadium to meet the minimum standards required to host premiership football. Reports are suggesting that club owner Nicholas Gara recently made a sponsorship plea but no sponsors have responded so far.

If they fail to get a sponsor early, the newcomers would have to find another home venue. The pre-season training is set to start in three weeks’ time with the 2018 season expected to kickoff at the end of March.

The Shurugwi side, which is funded solely from Gara’s pocket, will also need to expand their budget to meet the demands of the top flight football.

Nichrut made history by becoming the first Shurugwi-based team to be promoted into top-flight football.
