Veteran Defender Makonese wants to play on at 41

40-year-old Shabanie Mine dedender Zvenyika Makonese has suggested that he is determined to continue his career.

Makonese told the Herald that he need to underline his determination to return to full fitness as soon as possible and then continue his illustrious playing career for at least another season of which he will be 41.

Given his sensational performances for Shabanie Mine last season, the defender won’t be short on offers, with even Shabanie leaving the door open for a possible contract extension at Shabanie.

Indeed, Makonese has been proving for some time now that nothing is impossible and that age is just a number.

Even though he had originally intended to retire at the end of the season Makonese has decided to extend his contract and hopes to end it illuminating into a coaching career.

“Next season I will be playing football again but I think it will be my last season as a player,” Makonese told the Herald.

“In football however, you never know if clubs still want you to continue. I will decide the way forward for the 2019 season.”, he added.
