Chicken Inn threatens to report FC Platinum to CAF

Chicken Inn FC have threatened to report FC Platinum to CAF and the Angolan football authorities for including defender Lawrence Mhlanga in their provisional squad for CAF Champions League.

Mhlanga spent the entire 2017 season sidelined by a contractual dispute, and the Gamecocks claim that the player still has a running contract.

According to The Chronicle, club secretary Tawengwa Hara fumed at ZIFA CEO Joseph Mamutse for allowing the Zvishavane-based side to register the player.

Hara said that the CEO usurped the powers of the ZIFA Player’s Status Committee, which is the legal body recognised by FIFA to decide on the status of players in the event of disputes.

“We are going to write to CAF and the Angolans. CAF should not give the player the licence,” Hara said.

“We did not clear him (Mhlanga) plus all our contracts have got an automatic two-year extension, a right which the team can exercise. Mamutse is offside. He is not the ZIFA Players’ Status Committee which can only declare a player a free agent.”

FC Platinum will face on Angola’s Desportivo de Agosto in February in the preliminary round of the competition.
