Takaringofa Appointed Mutare City Coach

Premier league returnees Mutare City Rovers have appointed former Caps United midfielder Joseph ‘Shaba’ Takaringofa as the head coach.

Takaringofa takes over from Kennedy Kachara who has been demoted to the position of an assistant coach as he does not possess the requisite CAF A licence required to coach in the premier league.

Rovers’ media officer Clayton Masekesa confirmed the appointment.

“I can confirm that we have appointed one of our sons from the city Joseph Takaringofa to be our head coach on a one year contract. The contract is renewable should he meet the targets we set for him to do well and if the results don’t come, he will be relieved of his duties,” said Masekesa.

The Mutare born gaffer was also an assistant coach at Buffaloes and Ngezi Platinum.

Mutare City Rovers are making a return to the to the top flight football after having been relegated in 2016. The team boasts of experienced players such as 2008 soccer star of the year Evans Chikwaikwai, former FC Platinum striker Stephen ‘Delear’ Sibanda, Pervington Zimunya formerly of Shabanie Mine and goalkeeper Victor Twaliki who played for Shabanie and Caps United.
