Galloway set to return to Everton

Zimbabwe born Brendan Galloway could return back to Everton after Sunderland coach Chris Coleman hinted he could cut the defender’s loan deal short, according to Liverpool Echo.

Galloway is on a season-long stay at the Championship side having been allowed to leave by then Goodison boss Ronald Koeman.

However, the 21-year-old defender has not started a game since early September and has featured for just 42 minutes from the bench since Coleman took over as coach in November.

“Brendan is at an age (21, where) boys of his age who have come out on loan they need to be playing, his development is important as well,” said Coleman.

“These guys are not participating, it is hard for them too as they need to be playing.

“We are looking at what we absolutely need here to help us out.

“There will be a conversation and it is an ongoing conversation but nothing has been decided on any of that yet.”

In contrast to Galloway’s difficult time on Wearside, Everton team-mate Tyias Browning – also on a season-long loan at Sunderland – is a regular starter.
