Alimenda, Marere At Manica Diamond

Former Dynamos midfielder Stephen Alimenda has resurfaced at Eastern Region Division 1 side Manica Diamond as he tries to pick up the pieces on his fledgling career.

Alimenda left Dynamos at the start of last year together with Rodrick Mutuma and Sydney Linyama due to disciplinary issues. He joined Triangle but was released halfway through the campaign before reportedly having signed a lucrative deal in Hong Kong which turned out to be a pie in the sky as he finished the year trying to sign for Nichrut in the Central Region.

Manica Diamond coach Luke Masomere refused to comment, asking instead the media to focus on him.

“There are a lot of players here, but I can’t talk about them at the moment because we are still negotiating with their clubs. Actually, we don’t have a team at the moment so just talk about me the doctor of football,” said Masomere.

Alimenda is joined at the club by the reigning Central Region soccer star Jacob Muzokomba. The striker is set to dump debutants Nichrut for another stint in the lower division.

Out of contract Black Rhinos player, Benjamin Marere is also at Manica Diamond with the hope of signing for the club. 2013 Soccer Star Of The Year Tawanda Muparati has also been linked with the club having gone for trials recently.
