Conte vows to be ‘honest’ amid doubts over his Chelsea future

Antonio Conte says he will remain honest even if it could cost him his job as Chelsea head coach.

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are becoming increasingly frustrated with Conte appearing to publicly criticise their transfer policy.

Conte has said he is not worried about the threat of being sacked but admits having trouble sleeping due to “difficult situations”.

The Italian has refused to be diplomatic, insisting he will “tell the truth in every moment”, regardless of the consequences.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle, he said: “I’m not a diplomatic man.

“At the same time, I think I’m very honest. The honest person speaks very clearly in every moment. If you are fake, you try always to not tell the truth.

“I prefer to be honest, to tell the truth in every moment. I hate the fake person.”

The 48-year-old added he has no regrets over anything he has said since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2016.

He said: “No regrets, no. I think when I take a decision, I don’t want to look behind.

“I want always to look at the present, to look in front of me.”
