The fight between former ZIFA chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze and the association’s president Philip Chiyangwa took an interesting turn on Thursday when Mashingaidze reported the later to the police for abuse of office and its resources.
Ironically, Chiyangwa was the first to report Mashingaidze to the police last year claiming that the former head of ZIFA secretariat abused funds totalling to around $700 000 during his tenure.
“I have reported Chiyangwa to the police for abuse of office since December 2015. The RRB number is 3408136,” said Mashingaidze.
“He has been syphoning money from ZIFA through his companies Kilima and Hansporte Investments. He misused $1 million from Chivhayo, $1.2 million loan from Potraz as well as changing directors of ZIFA Pvt Ltd replacing them with one of his employees at Pinnacle.”
“He relocated the ZIFA headquarters from 53 Livingstone avenue to his private premises along 160 Enterprise road at extortionate rates of $6000 per month.”
The fight between the two which has escalated in recent months as the elections draw closer, started some time back last year when Mashingaidze took ZIFA to task over his unpaid dues. Chiyangwa claims ZIFA are in the current problems because Mashingaidze and company failed to run the association well, an accusation which Mashingaidze profusely denies.
