Mapeza Still Optimistic

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is optimistic that his charges can still overturn the 3-0 loss suffered at Primeiro Agosto in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg tie on Sunday.

Mapeza, however, contents that it’s going to be a tall order against the vastly experienced Angolan side when they come to Mandava Stadium.

“Everything is possible in football. We just need to work on rectifying our mistakes and see how it goes. Look at Barcelona at one time they lost to PSG and needed to score six goals, and they did that. So we just need to keep on believing that we will do it,” said Mapeza.

“I know it’s  not going to be easy considering the experience that the Angolans have, but we have to keep the faith and prepare well for the match.”

FC Platinum conceded just seven minutes into the match but managed to keep the Angolans at bay until halftime.

However, just like they started, the Zimbabwean side conceded two more goals which gave Agosto an advantage going into the second leg.

FC Platinum’s deficiencies were exposed two weeks ago when they were beaten 4-0 by Zambian side Zanaco in a friendly match.

The platinum miners’ lack of firepower was also laid bare and was even compounded by the lack of match fitness of their new strikers Zambian Shadreck Mayembe and Albert Eonde who were dropped from the travelling squad.
