Nobody Gave Us A Chance: Machazane

Stand in Dynamos captain Marshal Machazane says they were motivated by the underdog tag when they defied the odds to beat a much experienced Caps United 1-0 in the ZNA Charity Shield.

Dynamos fielded a largely inexperienced side save for him Machazane, Godfrey Mukambi, Blessing Mwandimutsira and Blessing Moyo after most senior players refused to play, demanding to be paid their outstanding dues from last year.

“Nobody gave us a chance because of what is happening at the club. We went into the match without training the whole week, but we managed to finish the whole game,” said Machazane.

The experienced defender also said the urge to be recognised in a derby, spurred the Dynamos youngsters to outwit the hugely experienced Makepekepe side.

“I told the young players some of whom who were playing the derby for the first time that this is the occasion for them to make a name for themselves and they did just that. We are really happy with the win, and we thank God for this victory as we savour this crucial victory and now shift our focus to the final.”

Caps United paraded most of their new and returning players that includes Method Mwanjali, Oscar Machapa, Brian Muzondiwa, Dominic Mukandi and Praise Tonha but failed to deflate the youthful Dynamos side.
