S.A based Zim players Round-up

Few Zimbabweans were in action in the ABSA Premiership over the weekend.

AmaZulu midfielder Butholezwe Ncube was sent-off in the 63rd minute during a 2-0 defeat against Maritzburg United on Friday night.

The 25-year old picked up a second yellow card for a clumsy foul on Siphesihle Ndlovu. His team-mate Ovidy Kararu was in top form though he failed to find the target.

Karuru started in the first eleven and partnered well with Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabhuti Khenyeza in Usuthu’s frontline.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Teenage Hadebe was also booked when they play against Cape Town City.

Hadebe received a yellow card in the 70th minute. He had a decent game and cleared Sibusiso Masina’s effort off the line in the second half. However, he was forced to switch position in the last minutes of the game with fellow country-man Willard Katsande after he was failing to cope with the pressure due to a minor knock.

Katsande, meanwhile, recovered from a facial injury suffered last week and returned to the first eleven.

On the other hand, Matthew Rusike featured for Cape Town, but could not make an impact.

Knox Mutizwa came off the bench and missed a penalty as Golden Arrows lost 2-1 against Bidvest Wits.

Mutizwa’s spot-kick hit the upright on the hour mark. Teammates Kudakwashe Mahachi and Thomas Chideu did not play on Saturday.

Mahachi suffered an ankle injury in Arrows’ game against Kaizer Chiefs.

Baroka’s Talent Chawapiwa was also in action over the weekend and starred in a goalless draw against Chippa United. He was substituted in the 89th minute.
