Antipas Blames His Players

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was not amused by his team’s performance in which they surrendered a one-goal lead and bow out of the ZNA Charity Shield with a 2-1 defeat to Highlanders.

Chicken Inn who were favourites going into the match had taken an early lead on Sunday before the game was stopped 10 minutes into the second half due to heavy rains.

“I blame the players, they took a negative approach towards the game. We missed a lot of chances, and I told the players that we need not knock the ball around since we were short of one man after the expulsion of Devine Lunga,” said Antipas.

The Chicken Inn Coach believes this was the tonic they need to awake from the slumber before the start of the season.

“This was a big wake call up to the players and coaches. We were a man down, and we wanted to close space since Highlanders were capitalising on that. I am really upset with the results.”
