The boys worked very hard: Mapeza

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza believes his boys worked very hard despite losing 2-1 to the Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League match played at Mandava Stadium on Wednesday.

Agosto won the tie 5-1 on aggregate and will face Bidvest Wits of South Africa in the next round.

Speaking after the match, Mapeza said they got punished after missing several chances.

“We just have to give credit to the boys. I think they worked very hard, the pitch was very heavy because of the rains.

“We created opportunities, but we couldn’t score.  We got punished, they hit us on a counter, and we lost position in the final third. We need to work on our transition,” said Mapeza.

Yesterday’s defeat was the second time Norman Mapeza lost on his first encounter in the inter-club competition. In 2015, he was knocked out of Confederation Cup by Young Africans of Tanzania.
