Dynamos crowned ZNA Charity Shield Champs

Dynamos were crowned the 2018 ZNA Charity Shield champions after they beat Highlanders 2-1 in a match played at National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

An own goal from Honest Moyo and another strike from Kudzanayi Dhemere handed the Glamour Boys their first silverware of 2018. Bosso got its consolation from Adrian Silla, a few moments after Dembare had doubled their lead.

The Bulawayo Giants set the pace as early as in the 3rd minute, but Gabriel Nyoni’s effort went over the bar. Dynamos responded two minutes later when Cleopas Kapupurike headed wide from a corner-kick. Their first real chance came in the seventh minute when Tawanda Macheke failed to direct his shot on target from a close range.

Valentine Kadonzvo also had a chance inside the opening quarter-hour but was denied by the goalkeeper.

Silla struck from a long range in the 36th minute and Dynamos goalkeeper Blessing Mwandimutsira made a brilliant save.

The teams went to half-time with no goals scored.

However, an early second-half goal from Moyo into his net broke the deadlock before  Dhemere doubled the lead in the 55th minute.

Highlanders were denied by the woodwork moments later, but Silla’s goal from a rebound in the 78th minute brought some hope for Tshilamoya.

With only a minute left before the last whistle, Dynamos survived a late scare when Peter Muduhwa’s header hit the upright.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Dynamos.
