S.A based Zim players round-up

Three Zimbabwean players received yellow cards during the ABSA Premiership matchday 22 played over the weekend.

Orlando Pirates’ Marshall Munetsi was booked in the 16th minute against Chippa United. The midfielder was substituted in the 55th minute. Ajax Cape Town midfielder Gerald Takwara was also cautioned on the quarter hour mark and did not finish the game as he was replaced in the second half. Onismor Bhasera of SuperSport United came off the bench and received the card in the additional time when his team drew 1-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bhasera’s team-mate Evans Rusike played for 89 minutes while Kingston Nkhatha was an unused sub.

Sundowns’ Khama Billiat was unable to continue the game after picking up a knock following a rough tackle a few minutes into the second half.

Also forced to leave the pitch early after an injury was Cape Town City’s  Matthew Rusike. The forward was subbed off in the 25th minute in the 2-1 loss against Bidvest Wits.

Teenage Hadebe was rested in Kaizer Chiefs’ goalless draw against Bloemfontein Celtic after he picked an injury in the previous round. Midfielder Willard Katsande did not feature in Chiefs squad following the passing on of his mother last week.

Golden Arrows’ Kudakwashe Mahachi also missed action over the weekend as he is still nursing his ankle injury. Team-mate Knox Mutizwa was not part of the squad, but Thomas Chideu remained on the bench.

Polokwane City goalkeeper George Chigova and Walter Musona played on Saturday against Baroka FC while Dominic Chungwa was on the bench. Baroka’s Talent Chawapiwa was in the first XI and played until the 89th minute.

Other stars featured for their teams are Ronald Pfumbidzai of Celtic, Amazulu’s Ovidy Karuru and Ajax forward Tendai Ndoro.
