Nomadic striker Mutuma rejoins boyhood club

Ex Dynamos and Highlanders hitman Roderick Mutuma has rejoined Harare giants Caps United for a second stint according to a confirmation from the club.

“Mutuma has said he wants to show us that he is not a spent force and is prepared to work hard and the coach has given him another chance,’’ club president Farai Jere told The Herald.

The Former Zimbabwe international won the Premier Soccer League golden boot, besides bagging two league titles with Dynamos in 2011 and 2012 before moving to South African side Bloemfontein Celtics.

Mutuma left Dynamos in June 2013 for South African Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtics but failed to leave a proper mark at the club – Managing to score just two goals in two season earning 14 appearances at the club . He was shipped out rejoining Dynamos FC. He however did not find his scoring form at Dynamos and disciplinary issues forced him out moving to rivals CAPS United.

At Caps he could not stay long and moved back at Dynamos before another shock move to Highlanders were he was signed by Dutch coach Erol Akbay who was a long time admirer of the player.

However, in May 2017 Mutuma was again on the move as he quit Highlanders, citing unpaid wages and bonuses. He then joined Yadah Stars for the remainder of the season.

This will be Mutuma’s second spell with Caps a club he claims to have supported since his childhood days having played in 2015 before leaving for Dynamos and later Highlanders.

Mutuma was part of the Caps United squad that travelled to Bulawayo for a weekend match against Highlanders for a challenge match meant to honor the ascendancy of Kembo Mohadi into vice President of Republic of Zimbabwe.
