FC Platinum clinch Roy Mazingi Memorial Cup

(File Picture) FC Platinum clinched the Roy Muzingi Memorial Cup on Saturday thanks to a 1 – 0 win over bitter rivals Shabanie Mine in the grand final played at Mandava Stadium earning the Zvishavane bragging rights.

Cameroon youth international Albert Eonde scored the all important goal in the first half paring home a rebounded shot from Shabanie Keeper.

Efforts by Shabanie to find the equalizer and perhaps a winner were futile as their opponents held on to finish top in the one day event.

The tournament of the four Midlands based teams was meant to celebrate the life of the departed Chapungu keeper Roy Mazingi who passed on earlier in the year.

Earlier on Shabanie Mine dispatched Chapungu 4-1 to earn a spot in the final while FC Platinum beat newboys Nichrut by the same scoreline in the other semi final.

All proceeds from the match were vive to Roy Mazingi family.
