Roy Mazingi tourney rakes in $5.6K

The Roy Mazingi Memorial Cup held on Saturday managed to rake in $5 600, according to information released by Shabanie Mine FC.

Shabanie together with FC Platinum, Chapungu United and Nichrut Midlands –  all from the Midlands – took part in a four-team tournament at Mandava Stadium in honour of the late Chapungu goalkeeper Roy Mazingi who died after a short illness early this year.

FC Platinum won the tournament after beating the Chinda Boys 1-0 in the final. Cameroonian international Albert Eonde scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute.

Pure Platinum Play president, Mr George Mawere donated $1500 to bring the total donations to $3 000 while gate takings amounted to $2 618,40 after all expenses were paid. The Zvishavane Town Council waived ground rentals.
