Nyasha Mushekwi poised to fight for his place at Dalian Yifang

Zimbabwe Internatiinal, Dalian Yifang striker Nyasha Mushekwi is determined to keep hold of his place.

The club’s new coach Mia boss brought in two high profile strikers Nico Gaitan of Argentina and Yannick Carrasco of Belgium who were acquired from Atletico Madrid. The club also romped in Portuguese defender Jose Fonte from English Premiership side West Ham.

It means Mushekwi is battling with his old striking partner along with fellow new signings to lead the line.

Mushekwi told the Herald that he has welcomed the increased competition for starting spots since the arrival of the new forwards and said he is willing to adapt to different positions to help the team.

The Zimbabwean who helped the side gain promotion with his 16 goals last season was not included in the side who were hammered 8-0 in their league opener.

Mushekwi who has been widely rumored to be on his way out of the club also revealed that the fans played a huge rule in him keeping his play after heavy protest against such a move.

‘’Yes, I’m still with the team, of course, there is going to be a lot of talk because of this game that we lost but, yeah, I’m still with the team,’’ he told The Herald.

‘’I expect to play as soon as (possible), maybe in the next game, I might start because after our last game where we lost so badly the coach (might) want to rectify (or) probably (stick) with the same kind of players he used in the last game to show them whatever but, maybe, I will start but I don’t know and we will see how it will happen.

‘’But my chances of playing are very good. Very soon I will be back in the grill. I’m good, it’s not a big deal, just working hard as always, pushing to see how the season is gonna turn up and I am happy.’’ He added.
