Takwara called-up for national team duty

Gerald Takwara is another foreign-based player called up for national team duty in the four-nation tournament to be held during the March international break.

The event will see Angola, South Africa and hosts Zambia battle it out with the Warriors from 21-24 March.

His club, Ajax Cape Town confirmed the 23-year-old midfielder is part of the Zimbabwe squad for this month’s assignments in a statement on their website.

Part of the statement reads: Ajax Cape Town midfielder Gerald Takwara has received a national team call-up from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) for the forthcoming four nations tournament to be played in neighbouring Zambia later this month………Takwara will report for National Team duty on the 19th of this month at the ZIFA head office in Harare.

The former FC Platinum player was part of the team that won the 2017 COSAFA Cup hosted in South Africa in July but missed the November friendly matches against Lesotho and Namibia.

Meanwhile, Costa Nhamoinesu is also part of the squad after his Czech club, Sparta Prague confirmed his inclusion.
