S.A based Zim players round-up

A few Zimbabweans in the South African top flight league were in action when the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 kicked-off over the weekend.

AmaZulu’s Ovidy Karuru was on target when his side bowed out of the competition following a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ubuntu Cape Town. Karuru scored the second goal in the last minute of the game. His team-mate Butholezwe Ncube was booked in the first half on his return after serving a red card suspension.

Ubuntu’s Temptation Chiwunga featured in the game while former Bantu Rovers striker Bukhosi Sibanda was an unused sub.

Baroka’s Talent Chawapiwa was not part of the squad that won 2-0 over Steenberg United on Saturday.

Full-back Ronald Pfumbidzai played the whole game when his Bloemfontein Celtic progressed to the next round of the tournament after beating Richards Bay 3-1. The former CAPS United player had a chance in the first half, but his shot went wide.

Defender Teenage Hadebe returned to action after missing Kaizer Chiefs’ last three games with an ankle injury. Hadebe played the whole game against Stellenbosch together with his team-mate Willard Katsande.

Stellenbosch goalkeeper Washington Arubi conceded two goals. Forward Tinashe Makanda was subbed off at the hour mark.
