‘Chidzambwa should have cast his net wide’

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa announced his 20-member squad for Four- Nation Tournament to be held in Zambia and the selection has been received with mixed feelings.

The team is mainly composed of foreign-based players with some new faces in the likes of Adam Chicksen, Alec Mudimu, Cliff Moyo, Marshall Munetsi and Butholezwe Ncube.

Knowledge Musona, Kuda Mahachi and Khama Billiat were dropped due to injuries while the likes of Eric Chipeta and Kundai Benyu are out possibly of inconsistency. Chipeta is still getting into shape following his recent move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Raed FC after spending over six months without kicking a ball. The same goes for Benyu who has struggled for game time since joining Oldham Athletic on loan in January.

But some players like Macauley Bonne and Gerald Takwara are not in the squad despite their respective teams confirming the call-ups.

Following the announcement of the squad on Tuesday, several fans think Chidzambwa should have included some players who are also performing well at their clubs.

Soccer24 has been following the reactions and here is what they said:

Ronnie Madzidzise: I thot KNox Mtizwa was far beetter than Karuru interms of phyisic where s he?

Rukudzo Jambwa: Chigova has been in top form for Polokwane City he has saved them goals. Where is Walter Musona though????

Balingene Mabuza Ncube: Chidzambwa don’t believe Partson Jaure is the best defender we have so far?

Shepherd Shumba: That Ncube guy ndokuti player.Chawapiwa isimbi yebasa.hameno kuti Bhasera vamusireyi

Mai Rutendo Gondo: Ronald pfumbidzai ,Tendai Darikwa,Partson Jaure na Teanage Hadebe ,ndo bac 5 kwete izvo

Kevin Mkerley: Dats why he z failer u a biased thats why iworriors yangkona ingayi ndawo iwina kuboBotswana kupela

Humphrey Ndlovu: Bring back Katsande and Mushekwi

However a few think the selection is ok. Sydney Negwari said: Let’s go with winning mentality guys and team work is needed. Let’s all say win win win win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Patrick Last Khosa also think the same: Not bad regaitione kuti zvichafambasei

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will face Zambia on the 21st of March in their first game of the tournament.
