Take a close look at new Warriors midfielder Marshall Munetsi

Orlando Pirates midfielder Marshall Munetsi is another new face in the Warriors squad to play in the four-nation tournament from 21-24 March in Ndola, Zambia.

Munetsi earned his first call-up to the national team, but he is not new to the followers of ABSA Premiership.

Soccer24 take an in-depth look on this new Warriors player.

Born on June 22, 1996, Marshall Munetsi is a right foot midfielder who is more comfortable in the central role. He can be used as defensive midfielder or centre-back.

Munetsi turned out for Blue Rangers FC during his early days of his career in Zimbabwe. He joined Orlando Pirates in July 2016 from FC Cape Town (now Ubuntu Cape Town) and was subsequently sent to Baroka FC on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old received a fair amount of game time, making 26 league appearances in the 2016-17 season. However, he suffered an injury, and his loan deal could not be extended despite interest from Baroka.

He spent over six months on the sidelines and at some point, there were reports suggesting he was on his way out of the Soweto Giants. Marshall featured for the first time in the 2017-18 season when he played the whole ninety minutes in a match against Baroka in early January.

The midfielder has now appeared in six league matches and two cup ties. In the league appearances, Munetsi came on as a sub twice and was subbed off once.

On 3 March, he was an unused sub in the 3-1 Soweto derby victory.
