Mutare City want to shift their home ground

Mutare City Rovers have written to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) asking to shift their base to Vengere Stadium in Rusape.

Rovers are currently using National Sports Stadium in Harare as their home ground following the condemnation of Sakubva Stadium by the First Instant Board (FIB) which passes venues for use by Premiership clubs.

Club spokesperson Clayton Masekesa confirmed to NewsDay the development yesterday.

“We wrote a letter to the PSL last week to be given permission to use Vengere Stadium,” he said.

“The First Instant Board then advised us to do certain renovations on the stadium. We then approached Rusape Town Council to improve the areas that needed to be upgraded.

“Most of the upgrades have been done. Now we are waiting for the final assessment of FIB.”

Vengere has hosted Premiership football before, with relegated Buffaloes and Dongo Sawmills using the venue some few years ago.
