Dynamos lose again as CAPS, FCP draw

Dynamos suffered their second defeat of the season when they lost 0-1 to Ngezi Platinum in a match played at Baobab stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The Glamour Boys were again without their star striker Christian Epoupa who is refusing to play, demanding his outstanding dues.

Xolisani Moyo scored the only goal of the match in the 12th minute after Micheal Charamba set him up.

Terrence Dzvukamanja could have doubled the lead four minutes later, but his effort went over. Dembare’s Cleopas Kapupurika blew away a glorious chance in the 43rd minute which could have restored parity ahead of the break.

Ngezi’s Augusto missed the target moments into the second half while goalkeeper Donovan Bernard followed up with a good save. In the 79th minute, Ocean Mushure delivered a corner-kick which almost found the back of the net, but the goalkeeper had to be at his best again to stop the effort.

Dynamos camped in their opponents’ half, searching for an equaliser, but they found nothing, instead, they were the ones that survived a late scare in the 88th minute with Charamba’s strike saved by the keeper in a 1-on-1 situation.

The result left the Harare Giants in the relegation zone with just one point. Ngezi are now two points clear at the top after FC Platinum dropped points in Harare.

The reigning champions failed to collect their first away victory against CAPS United when they played to a goalless draw.

Pure Platinum Play were denied three times by Prosper Chigumba before they hit the post on the midway point of the first half. There was little action in the second half as the match ended with no goals scored.

This is CAPS’ third straight draw of the 2018 season.

In Bulawayo, Chicken Inn beat Mutare City 2-1.

Darryl Nyandoro netted a second-half brace while Billy Vheremu got the consolation for Rovers.

Herentals picked their first Premiership win, edging ZPC Kariba 0-1. Blessing Majarira went on target at the 18th-minute mark.

The game between Yadah and Black Rhinos ended 3-1 in favour of the former.
