Bulawayo derby thrills Madinda

Highlanders coach Madinda Ndlovu has described the derby encounter against Chicken Inn on Sunday as a thrilling one.

Four goals were scored, and three of them were beautifully executed. Brian Banda was the first to find the back of the net with a spectacular volley from outside the penalty box, and Chicken Inn responded with an equally superb effort from Innocent Muchaneka.

A long-range pass from Banda to Gabriel Nyoni was converted into a goal a few moments after the hour, but the Gamecocks quickly restored parity again through Simon Munawa.

Speaking after the match, Madinda was convinced with the performances from both teams and heaped praises on his charges for playing to a draw against an experienced side.

“One will put it as the fairest result. We did almost everything we had prepared for, although a number of my players did not come to the party,” Ndlovu said.

“We saw three brilliant goals today, Chicken Inn’s second was a present. This is the type of competition that we want for the region. If my boys can play like this against Chicken Inn, I am happy. It was a good test for them.”

Both teams remain unchanged on the log with Bosso on 3rd position while Chicken Inn on fourth.
