ABSA Premiership: Pirates to play Wits behind closed doors

Orlando Pirates have confirmed their game against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, next week will be played behind closed doors.

The PSL (S.A) on Tuesday finally handed down its punishment to the Buccaneers for the crowd violence at their game against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on February 11, 2017.

The League said in a statement that the sanction on Pirates was that “they must play two home matches in a closed stadium,” but added that “the implementation of one of these matches has been suspended for a period of 24 months.”

Now Pirates have announced that they will not allow fans in their game against Wits.

“The Absa Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits scheduled for Wednesday, 25 April, will now be played behind closed doors in terms of a sanction handed down by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee,” read statement on the club’s website.

“Fans who have already bought tickets for this match will be advised in the near future as to how to get a refund.”
