Former ZIFA boss Cuthbert Dube has written to the football body demanding $1 million dollars.

In a letter dated 11 April 2018, Dube says he is owed $918 049.30 which he gave to the association as loans during his time in office when the Government was not paying anything to ZIFA.

The ex-president explained the financial assistance was in form of staff salaries, national teams bonuses and allowances, hotel accommodations for visiting foreign teams, referees’ fees (both local and foreign), expenses for ZIFA Board and Councillors’ meetings, etc.

He also disclosed that he has tried to engage the incumbent President, Philip Chiyangwa over the issue, who has avoided the meeting.

Dube asked why he was being attacked by state media yet he showed “true patriotism” by assisting the association. He said he lost personal properties to creditors including a one and a half acre stand in Mt Pleasant and is about to lose another one in Waterfalls.

He threatened to involve FIFA in the matter if there is no payment plan made.

“I am requesting your esteemed office and person to prevail on your principles to pay me my dues as a matter of urgency, failing which I will seek recourse from elsewhere,” he said in the letter.
