Court upholds Ndoro ruling

Tendai Ndoro’s hopes of playing football again this season completely faded away after the Gauteng High Court dismissed his second appeal against the decision to bar him from playing for Ajax Cape Town.

The 32-year-old striker was instructed to stop featuring for the Urban Warriors after he contravened Fifa’s regulations on the status and transfer of players.

Ndoro had made another appeal which was turned down, with the case referred to FIFA. However, the world football body refused to make a judgement on the dispute, saying they don’t have a jurisdiction on the matter.

Here is a statement by PSL (SA):

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) welcomes today’s decision of the Gauteng Local Division of the High Court, Johannesburg, in the matter between the National Soccer League, Ajax Cape Town, Mr Tendai Ndoro and Others.

Ajax Cape Town and Mr Ndoro brought an application to review the decision of Advocate Cassim SC which ruled that the Dispute Resolution Chamber had no jurisdiction to rule on the matter of Mr Ndoro.

The High Court this afternoon dismissed Mr Ndoro’s and Ajax Cape Town’s application. Consequently Adv. Cassim’s SC ruling in favour of the League’s position stands.
