History was made on Saturday when the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League went live on Facebook to stream the match between Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders.

The encounter was the first time a league match was streamed online, bringing an option to local football lovers who have been deprived of league action since the contract with SuperSport TV expired at the end of last year.

The stream was superb with clear commentary from Howard Musonza. The camera set-up was also good though there were few angles to show.

However, it’s not yet clear if PSL will show more games.

But if this marked the beginning of a new era, then fans have something to smile about as this is a cheaper and more convenient way to watch their teams in action unlike where one needed to subscribe his DSTV where sometimes the matches were not screened.

Meanwhile, The PSL is yet to announce who won the tender for broadcasting rights of the matches.
