We Kept Faith: Chitembwe

Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe applauded his players for showing character to come from behind and beat Nichrut 4-3 at Ascot stadium.

Simba Nhivi led from the front, scoring a hatrick as the Green Machine doused a spirited display from the home team.

“We kept on believing that we can still win this match. Credit should go to the players for not losing hope even when we were two goals down. It shows that we are united as a team,” said Chitembwe.

Makepekepe appeared to be suffering from Derby hangover as they played second fiddle to Nichrut in the opening stages of the game.

Tatenda Hapazari scored his third consecutive goal in three matches tapping in a corner kick from Farai Vimisai. Nhivi who had a stellar afternoon equalised seven minutes later, but Gerald Bhero restored the advantage with a beautiful long range shot from outside the box.

For a moment the match looked like it was beyond Caps when Shepherd Sithole made it 3-1 five minutes into the second half. However, Nhivi reduced the arreas in the 57th minute. Bruce Gurure then gave Caps United a lifeline when he beat his own goalkeeper trying to defend a corner kick from Milton Ncube .

Nhivi capped his memorable afternoon with a well taken shot from outside the box to put Caps into the lead for the first time in the match.

This was Caps first win outside Harare this season after drawing against Bulawayo City and losing to Triangl
