ZTA plans Warriors, European Legends match

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and the World Class Legends represented by Rayco Garcia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday which will see Warriors Legends and their European counterparts clash at the National Sports Stadium on 8 June.

According to the Chronicle, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira, former Brazil international Julio Baptista and La Liga director for Africa Antonio Barradas also attended the signing of the MoU.

The initiative is part of the efforts by the by the Government to promote sports tourism in the country.

“We are planning to make a match against Zimbabwe legends on June 8, it will be a Friday,” said Garcia.

“The Spaniards will come, the Italians will come, the French will come, the Dutch will come. I think it’s now the time to open Zimbabwe for business and to create opportunities for everyone.”

The Warriors Legends attracted more than 45 000 fans at their last match against Barcelona Legends in November, last year. Another legends match scheduled for December against South Africa did not take place after the organisers, ZIFA, failed to secure a venue.
