Fifa Orders ZIFA To Hold Elections

Contrary to the propaganda that the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has spewed over the last months, the world governing body Fifa has ordered Zifa to hold elections following the expiring of the term of office of the Philip Chiyangwa led board.

In their latest communication, Fifa says Zifa should respect its constitution and hold elections following the expiry of the previous board’s mandate on 31 March.

Interestingly Fifa’s response comes after Zifa tried on Tuesday to silence any critical voice, issuing a statement denigrating the Sports and Recreation Commission, formere association presidents and some members of the media.

Zifa through their lawyer Itai Ndudzo has been insisting that Chiyangwa still has two more years to serve as board president despite the fact that he was appointed after a crisis to finish off the term of office of Cuthbert Dube who was recalled by councillors.
