Ngezi Platinum beat Harare City to open six point gap at the top

Ngezi Platinum Stars beat Harare City 3-1 to stretch their undefeated run in this season to 14 games.

Terrence Dzvukamanja, Kenneth Bulaji and James Nguluve were on target as Madamburo opened a six-point gap at the top of the log.

City set the pace in the early minutes as they search for an opener. The home team soon settled and got its first attempt on goal towards the quarter hour mark which was directed off target by Dzvukamanja.

The striker came back with another effort in the 17th minute which broke the deadlock after being set-up by Nguluve.

Ten minutes later, Kenneth Bulaji doubled the advantage, heading home a Micheal Charamba’s corner kick.

City were forced to make a substitution in the 35th minute when Martin Vengesayi came on for William Manondo. The change did not make an immediate impact as they failed to penetrate Ngezi’s defence. However, they were the ones that almost conceded when Dzvukamanja blew a glorious chance in the 41st minute.

Nguluve, nonetheless, managed to add another goal to the cushion following a good run by Charamba ten minutes into the second period.

The Sunshine Boys pulled one back in the 77th minute through Wilfred Muvirimi, but the goal was a mere consolation as the game ended in favour of Madamburo.

The result also ended Harare City’s seven-match unbeaten run.

Result:

Ngezi Platinum Stars 3-1 Harare City
