International Friendlies: DRC hold Nigeria, Tunisia fight back to level Portugal, France beat Ireland

Portugal surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Tunisia in their World Cup warm-up friendly in Braga this evening.

The Euro 2016 champions appeared to be cruising to victory when goals from Andre Silva and Joao Mario gave them a 2-0 advantage inside 35 minutes, but Anice Badri halved the deficit before half time to give Tunisia hope.

Tunisia – who will open their World Cup campaign against England on June 18 – then levelled things up midway through the second half courtesy of Fakhreddine Ben Youssef ‘s strike, sealing a memorable comeback with exactly three weeks to go until their first match in Russia.

France stepped up their preparations for the 2018 World Cup with a straightforward 2-0 win over Republic of Ireland at the Stade de France.

Les Blues dominated proceedings prior to netting twice at the end of the first half with goals from Giroud and Fikr, the latter coming through a howler from third-choice visiting goalkeeper Colin Doyle .

For all the home side’s dominance, however, they too often struggled when it came to the final ball and were restricted to just the two goals following a quiet second half in Paris.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by the Simba of DR Congo.

Troost-Ekong scores his first goal for the Eagles in the 14 minute with a simple tap-in from an Ogeanyi Onazi’s freekick.

The visitors made it 1-1 from the penalty spot in the 78 minute after Ola Aina fouled Congolese player.
