Ngezi Platinum Stars are reportedly planning to approach the Premier Soccer League to have a red card issued to Xolisani Moyo in the game against Bulawayo Chiefs overturned.
The Mhondoro based side suffered their first defeat of the season in a match which saw their two players – Xolisani Moyo and Clive Augusto – sent off.
Augusto was the first to be expelled on the hour mark, and Moyo who came in as a 73rd-minute substitute lasted only nine minutes on the field as he was wrongly shown a red card.
The referee adjudged the former Bulawayo City midfielder to have stumped on a Chiefs player in an off-the-ball incident. Instead, it was Micheal Charamba who was supposed to be punished.
According to The Herald, coach Tonderai Ndiraya said: “Be rest assured we are going to appeal the red card, it was not warranted, but a case of mistaken identity. I hope the authorities will have that red card rescinded.
“We do have video evidence and we will probably use that. I’m hoping the evidence will help us.”
Meanwhile, Ngezi will play FC Platinum this weekend at Baobab Stadium. The two teams are both tied on 38 points, but the reigning champions are second due to goal difference.
