Preview: Zambia vs Mighty Warriors

Mighty Warriors face Zambia this afternoon in the first leg of the final round of the 2018 AWCON qualifiers.

The Zimbabwe women’s team beat Namibia 4-0 on aggregate in the previous round while Shepolopolo overcame Tanzania.

Today’s clash is not the first meeting between the two sides in the last round of qualifiers. In 2016, the Mighty Warriors beat their northern rivals 4-2 on aggregate to book a place at the 2016 AWCON tournament held in Cameroon.

Striker Rutendo Makore is fit to play today after missing the Namibia clash due to injury.

On the other hand, Zambia’s Barbara Banda will lead her side as they target an advantage ahead of the second leg in Harare on Sunday.

Kick-off time is 3 pm.

Head-to-Head
The last time Zimbabwe and Zambia played against each other was in April 2016 with the former winning 3-2. There are nine competitive meetings since 2007 between the two sides and the Mighty Warriors have six wins.
