Head to head: Zimbabwe vs Zambia

Zambia and Zimbabwe will this Saturday clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in their second successive COSAFA Cup final.

The two Southern African sides will be meeting for the 48th time since Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980 with Zambia leading the head to head in the previous clashes.

Zambia is the team with the most wins against Zimbabwe. They have beaten their neighbors a massive 17 games while 21 ended as draws. The Warriors have nine wins in those duels.

Zimbabwe have the most Cosafa titles (Five) while Zambia has the second highest just one shot and Sunday’s winner will go on to break the record for the most number of wins.

The two teams have also met a record time in the finals. Zimbabwe and Zambia clash in the COSAFA Cup final for the fourth time in six COSAFA Cup tournaments, with Zimbabwe having claimed victory in 2009 and 2017, and Zambia on home soil in 2013.

Zambia last won when they hosted the 2013 edition and Zimbabwe are the defending having beaten the same opponents last year in Royal Bafokeng.

Last year Zimbabwe overpowered their northern neighbours Zambia 3-1 to win the 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup and take a record fifth title.
