Katsande speaks on Billiat move to Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande says Amakhosi lacked a player of Khama Billiat’s quality before the 27-year-old winger completed his move from Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday.

Billiat turned down a $450 000/year from Egyptian giants Zamalek and signed a three-year contract with the Soweto giants.

In an interview with The Herald, Katsande said Khama still has a chance to join European leagues.

“It’s a massive addition to us. We wanted someone who can have an impact on our matches,” said Katsande.

“For me, it is also a good feeling whereby I know how he plays, all we need to do is to help him settle in at the club.

“His European chances are not yet over. He can still go after helping us win the league. Chiefs won’t hold on to players who want to go overseas,’’ Katsande said.

Billiat will also play alongside another Zimbabwean Teenage Hadebe who joined Chiefs in July last year.
