Highlanders have dismissed reports suggesting that Thomas Chideu has joined the club.

Chideu was offloaded by ABSA Premiership side Golden Arrows early this month and has been spotted at Bosso training, stirring speculation that he has found a new base.

The 21-year-old was at the Bulawayo giants before he moved to Ajax Cape Town in 2015.

A statement on their official Twitter account reads:

We hope all those who have been told Thomas Chideu has been signed by Highlanders are answered. We have not done any deal yet. Any development with regards player movement to or from Highlanders will be communicated through proper channels.

In an interview with The Chronicle, Highlanders CEO Nhlanhla Dube said the player is training with the team to keep fit.

“Chideu has only been training with us to stay fit,” he said.

“Nothing about his move to us has been discussed. The technical team haven’t said anything to us, and we stand guided by what the technical team presents to us.”
