No money to send Chitiyo for surgery

CAPS United midfielder Ronald Chitiyo is yet to secure required funds to undergo knee surgery in South Africa.

The midfielder was hit by a car six months ago while walking in Epworth. He needs about R115 000 for the operation.

According to The Herald, club chief executive, Cuthbert Chitima said they were in the process of pooling the resources.

“Ronald Chitiyo is yet to undergo the operation in South Africa where the procedure is scheduled to be undertaken. He will have to be attended to by South African specialists, and R115 000 is needed,” said Chitima.

“As a club, we wish to see our injured players getting assistance as soon as possible, and we are running around to try and mobilise the resources for him to be treated.”

The operation is expensive when it’s done locally.

Chitiyo’s injury was initially expected to keep him on the sidelines for not more than three weeks, but it emerged later after the midfielder aggravated the injury by rushing back to training in April, that it needed specialist treatment.
