Former Zimbabwe international William Mugeyi has warned players eyeing a move to a big team to value game time over money.

In an interview with The Citizen, a South African newspaper, Mugeyi said players need to learn from others and make right choices.

“Sometimes you need to forget the money and think about what you are doing to your career by going there,” Mugeyi told the publication.

“You need to look at what happened to the last players that joined, learn from that, and you could tell what will happen to you.

“You need to consider that am I happy at my current club, the money I have, is it enough to take care of myself,  do I have a place in the squad and with that you can grow to be a better player next season.”

Several Zimbabwean players have failed to leave a mark when they move to big clubs in South Africa.

The likes of Edmore Chirambadare and Michelle Katsvairo were recently offloaded after they failed to impress at Kaizer Chiefs. Kudakwashe Mahachi only made 13 appearances in his first season at Mamelodi Sundowns but went on to become an influential player during his loan spell at Golden Arrows.
