My recovery is a miracle: Zvirekwi

CAPS United captain Hardlife Zvirekwi has described his recovery as a miracle.

The 31-year-old full-back was amputated on his left wrist following a car accident in March. He has since returned to action and made his first appearance of the season last Saturday.

Zvirekwi came on as an 87th-minute substitute, replacing Simba Nhivi in a match against Harare City.

Speaking to The Herald, the Green Machine skipper revealed he never thought he would return to action soon.

“I didn’t expect to be back so soon hence it was a miraculous return and would like to thank God for that,’’ he said.

“During the rehabilitation process, even from the day I got amputated, I stayed positive and saw things in a different way from the manner others were seeing it. I had faith that God is still in the business of making miracles, and with Him, all things are still possible.

“It was not easy being on the sidelines, and it took a lot of hard work but I would like to thank my teammates and the coach who guided me.”

Zvirekwi also said he is not yet fully recovered but will bring his best in the last half of the campaign.

“I am still recovering and not yet hundred per cent fit. I will give it my best. I will play a role in the last half of the season to help my teammates when given an opportunity to play a role in matches.”
