Ngezi return to winning ways, FC Platinum drop points again

Ngezi Platinum returned to winning ways, thanks to a 3-1 victory over Triangle United at Baobab Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Madamburo had gone for four matches without a win. The triumph put them on 41 points, four behind log leaders FC Platinum who dropped points in Harare.

The home team opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Tichaona Mabvura before Marlon Mushonga doubled the cushion with a beautiful strike four minutes later.

United were forced to make an early substitute when Pascal Manhanga came on for Anelka Chivandire on the half-hour mark. The Sugar Boys made another change a few moments before the break, replacing Courage Denias with Lameck Nhamo.

Nhamo’s introduction made some impact in the second half when his brilliant strike was denied by Nelson Chadya in the 54th minute.

The visitors finally got their breakthrough on the hour courtesy of Collin Dhuwa’s effort, but Ngezi restored their two-goal advantage a minute later after Tichaona Mabvura went on target.

Madamburo were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute when Keith Murera received his second yellow card.

Nonetheless, they hold on to their lead in the remaining minutes with Chadya making another top class save to stop Nhamo’s shot.

At National Sports Stadium, FC Platinum dominated possession but were denied maximum points by Ralph Matema’s header in the 76th minute.

Ali Sadiki had put the away team in front in the 30th minute.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw while Thomas Chideu made his debut for Pure Platinum Play.
