Update on Chitiyo injury

CAPS United midfielder Ronald Chitiyo is still waiting to undergo knee surgery as the star’s manager and Zambia-based doctor, Enos Mufushwa, are not agreeing on the way forward.

The talented 25-year-old star was hit by a car while walking in Epworth in February and Mufushwa offered to assist after the Green Machine struggled to raise $12 000 needed for the operation in South Africa.

According to The Herald, the doctor confirmed the medical procedure was cancelled at the last minute.

“I can confirm that Ronald Chitiyo is yet to be operated as his manager, Kudakwashe Chidemo, instructed us to wait as he said there is a South African club, which I can’t name at the moment, which has pledged to pay for the player’s operation which is more advanced than the one we had scheduled to undertake,” said Mufushwa.

“We were supposed to do the procedure on Tuesday last week. My team had to repeat the ultrasound scans since the ones Chitiyo had were old ones.

“After the scans, he had to be admitted at a local hospital awaiting results and the operation, but then his manager stopped us.”

Chitiyo returned to CAPS United in January after cancelling his contract with Tunisian giants Club Sfaxian. He is now likely to miss the rest of the season.
