The Nigerian Super League which was set to resume on the 18yh of July has been postponed indefinitely following a massive footballing crisis rocking the West African country.

Chris Giwa, founder of a rival faction in the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), armed with a court ruling from 2014, is now claiming to control the governing body.

However, Fifa recognises Amaju Pinnick as NFF president.

Following the leadership tussle, the League Management Company (LMC) announced that it has postponed the resumption of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) indefinitely.

Officials of the Nigerian Football League stated that “organizing matches of the NPFL under the current circumstances might cause irreversible damage to the League brand”

“The decision is based on the current adverse circumstances in the administration of football in the country as a result of which sponsors, partners and service providers have expressed strong concerns and are reviewing their involvement in the league,” the LMC said in a statement.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has also issued a warning to Nigeria, to respect the FIFA recognized board or face suspension over the current power tussle. The world Football governing body,threatened to ban the country from international competition if Giwa did not step down till Amaju Pinnick serves out his tenure by September.
