Madinda abandons style for results

Highlanders have ditched their quest to play a typical entertainment brand of football and focus on grinding results in the remaining fixtures.

Coach Madinda Ndlovu indicated at the start of the season that he wanted to go back to the traditional entertaining passing game synonymous with Bosso, but after a spate of poor results, the gaffer is now only focused on getting results.

With the top teams which had threatened to run away with the title now stagnating, Ndlovu might be facing faint hopes of catching up with log leaders FC Platinum who are now 11points away.

“Our game plan is now to get the results regardless of how we play. At this stage, points are now important. We got into the Triangle match with a plan, and when we got the early goal we resorted to defending to preserve the lead,” said Ndlovu.

Newman Sianchali gave Highlanders an early lead which they managed to preserve with goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda putting up a man of the match performance in which he denied Russel Madamombe from the penalty spot.

Last weekend, the Bulawayo giants had another narrow 1-0 win over Herentals, and despite the victory, Ndlovu was not amused by the dull performance of his team.
